I now use this instead of my gas-powered string trimmer. It's lighter and quieter without any sacrifice in functionality.
People complaining of this model gobbling string are probably clearing fields or cutting down sign poles. Stick to grass and weeds and there isn't a problem. My gas unit ate string faster than this one in the same service in the same place because I was "tapping" it (More like beating it on the ground) all the time.
You can't beat this unit or the price if you stick to what it was made for. If you want to clear a neigborhood of tumbleweeds around abandoned cars and old barbed wire rolls, pay more and buy something made for that intended use.

Easy to set up and use. Seems to be solid and not flimsy. Doea a good job at trimming and edging. I use it to trim around fence and edge sidewalks and driveways. String is a bit pricey.

My wife had a difficulty in assembling the unit using the manual. The instruction manual needs to be more elaborate. I had to visit [@] type sites to see the videos to understand the working and safety precautions needed before using it.
