I like everything about it except the cranking system is a little wimpy, but if it does break I hope the parts that break are always available. Not a commercial unit, but ok for the do it yourselfer.

Comments about Workmate 425 Portable Project Center and Vice:

The only instructions concern the assembly and fails to provide any data concerning the removal of one of the surface boards in order to function as a vise. The photos indicate that the vise is merely lifting up the one section and clamping. The vise cannot be used with all surface boards in place.

Comments about Workmate 425 Portable Project Center and Vice:

With limited space in my garage, this Workmate unfolds quickly and handles a multitude of tasks. This is a substantial, upscale unit that does a terrific job on both small and large projects. Far and away outperforms the inexpensive folding work benches offered by outlet and discount stores. I did experience some damage in shipping but a quick call to Black and Decker customer support and the replacement part was shipped immediately, at no cost. Can't ask for better product support! B&D Workmate is the gold standard when it comes to folding workbenches....worth every penny!

        Dreadful instructions to put together

Comments about Workmate 425 Portable Project Center and Vice:

The instructions and the little photos to put the workmate together are dreadful. There are no instructions where to put some of the parts. There was a great deal of trial an error- mostly error because of the lack of instructions. After great effort we were finally able to put it together. It was about the worst instructions that I have ever seen. B&D redo the instructions and tiny photos, then I would give it a decent review.

What is the top(s) made of? I bought one a few years ago that was fiberboard and went bad in the rain season.
